This year, straight up, has been super tough. I've been feeling tired, stressed, hurt, sick, etc. However, when I don't feel awful, I've been trying to keep up the quest to improve my skills. I think the best way I've heard it put is that I'm trying to level up in Artist. I definitely haven't been working as fast as I normally do, but damn, have I had some pretty rough days.

It's starting to get a little better now though, so I've been able to work on this guy. He's another dude from D&D. I don't really make up character concepts so well, but I sure do like to model them. This guy will be Jin, your standard D&D monk type person.

Still a lot of work to go, but here's round 1.

Got a job!

It's a contract position until June, but, hey it's a foot in the door for sure. I'm really excited to work my ass off for them.

Also, major props for literally making a position for me (Sarah and Steve, you guys are the best)

Lastly, Pete, Chad, and Harry; thanks for your continued guidance and critique as I try to get this thing going.

Dead Crow Studios

Edit: Looks like this post is causing some confusion. Dead Crow is an unpaid position. I was laid off by Everyscape, which was my paying job.

I just started working as a texture artist and modeler for Dead Crow Studio. The work seems right up my alley. I like the post apocalypse genre and it’s fun to be making stuff for a extremely screwed up world. Dirty things are just more interesting. ;) The team seems like it’s really good and has a very low level of crazy (thank you God). It’s unpaid right now, but here’s hoping it doesn’t stay like that for long. Here's what they said about me. I'm am so proud of this.

Figured it's been awhile, so here's a snap shot. I've been re-doing a lot of things. Some of the detail I added in zbrush seems like it wasn't worth it and can just be replaced w/ texture. So I've been editing the normal maps a bit here and there.

I'd like to get some base hair on there, but I'm not sure how yet. Right he's rocking out the skull cap hair. Bleh.

XNormal hates me

Hi All,

I'm hoping for some help with xnormal. I have Zbush 3.5 and Xnormal 3.17.0 beta 3b

I have a mesh in zbrush w/ 4 subtools. (The meshes were created from one low poly mesh which was create in maya 09)

All meshes were imported with mesh scaling set to 100

Two of those subtools have produced normals maps w/o any issue in xnormal. However, the other 2 are just producing "blobs" (see attached pictures). It's like xnormal isn't even recognizing the UVing of the mesh which was done in Maya before zbrushing.

Here's an example of subtool #1 the face = it's fine

And here's subtool #2 the body. What is up with that?

Same base low poly mesh, and 2 really different results. Any advice?
